Trip Highlights

During Vietnam-American War, the Ben Hai River was the demarcation line between North and South Vietnam. This makes a Demilitarized Zone of five km each from the river.

However, during the war, the Southern area of DMZ was one of the bloodiest battlefields.
This tour to DMZ will take you back to the war sites, including Ben Hai River, Hien Luong Bridge, Vinh Moc tunnel, Khe Sanh Combat, Ho Chi Minh Trail, Dong Ha Town, Rock pile.
Last but not least, you will have a chance to visit Ethnic minorities people in the Central of Vietnam.

  • DAY 1

07.00 Sinh Cafe Travel's guide picking up at the hotel (located in Hue City center only) and departing for Dong Ha town
09.00 Arriving at Dong Ha town and stopping for a short break before departing for DMZ tour:
    1. Rockpile: a solitary karst rock outcropping north of Route 9. It's relatively inaccessible location, reached only by helicopter, made it an important United States Army and Marine Corps observation post and artillery base from 1966 to 1969
    2. Minority R's village
    3. Ho Chi Minh Trail: a logistical system provided support, in the form of manpower and materials, from the North to the Vietnamese Army in the South
    4. Dakrong Bridge: this bridge was rebuilt in 2001 and bears a marker hailing its importance as a conduit for the Ho Chi Minh trail
    5. Khe Sanh Combat Base: the United States Marine Corps outpost south of DMZ. Currently, it hosts a small museum on base, historical pictures and weapons are shown. Additionally, abandoned helicopters, restored bunkers, and portions of the airstrip are visible.

13.00 Continuing with the afternoon program
Vinh Moc tunnels: the tunnels were built to shelter villagers of Son Trung and Son Ha communes from the intense bombing by the American forces. The complex grew to include wells, kitchens, rooms for each family and spaces for healthcare. Around 60 families lived in the tunnels and as many as 17 children were born inside the tunnels. Comparing to Cu Chi tunnels in the South, Vinh Moc tunnels are much bigger and more elaborated.

Hien Luong Bridge (introduced while driving pass): a bridge over Ben Hai River and is located in 17th Parallel and in Vietnam War, it was bisected between South Vietnam and North Vietnam.
