  • Day 1: Vientiane Arrival. Welcome to Laos. You’ll get to know the city better on an afternoon sightseeing tour, including famous historic sites of Vientiane.
  • Day 2: Vientiane – Vang Vieng. Enjoy the beautiful limestone karsts surrounding Vang Vieng. Free time to hike, bike, swim or go caving.
  • Day 3: Vang Vieng – Phonsavan. Drive to Phonsavan, capital of Xieng Khuang - the gateway to the Plain of Jars.
  • Day 4: Phonsavan – Plain of Jars. Explore the mysterious Plain of Jars and the surrounding area.
  • Day 5: Phonsavan – Luang PrabangTransfer to Luang Prabang.
  • Day 6: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves. Cruise along the Mekong River to visit sacred caves of Pak Ou. Back in Luang Prabang, explore the main highlights that the city has to offer.
  • Day 7: Luang Prabang – Kuang Si Waterfalls. Join the daily morning rituals of monks. Short visit to Mount Phousi and Wat Visoun then cool off at Kuang Si Waterfalls.
  • Day 8: Luang Prabang – Pakse – Champasak – Don Khon. Transfer to Champasak, pay a visit to Hindu sanctuary of Wat Phou. Enjoy slow life in Don Khon.
  • Day 9: Don Khon – Khone Phapheng Falls – Pakse. Explore the local peaceful villages of Don Khon, see relics from the French colonial era. Visit mighty Li Phi Falls and Khone Phapheng Falls.

  • DAY 1

    Vientiane Arrival
    Sabaai-dii! Welcome to Laos’s capital - Vientiane where it retains an old-world charm that is becoming increasingly rare and unique. With its wide-open boulevards and plenty of golden temples, this peaceful city hardly feels like a modern capital.Start your day with the city’s oldest temple, Wat Sisaket - filled with thousands of miniature Buddha statues. Then explore the former royal temple, Ho Phra Keo which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha. En route to the famous That Luang Stupa and visit the imposing Patuxai, known as "Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane".

  • DAY 2

    Vientiane – Vang Vieng
    Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then heading north to the calm riverside hamlet of Vang Vieng, a small town next to the Nam Song River that is surrounded by jagged limestone karsts.Upon arrival in Vang Vieng, become familiar with the city on a brief tour before you check in to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the town.

    Activities: Enjoy the beautiful limestone karsts surrounding Vang Vieng. Free time to hike, bike, swim or go caving.
  • DAY 3

    Vang Vieng – Phonsavan
    Today we will join a 7 to 8 hour journey by car to Phonsavan, capital of Xieng Khouang - the gateway to the Plain of Jars. Along the way, just take a look through the window to watch the beautiful scenery and local village life. Late in the afternoon, we arrive at Phonsavan. Take a city tour and choose to visit MAG, a humanitarian organization clearing the remnants of conflict for the benefit of local communities worldwide (the Mines Advisory Group).The evening is for yourself to discover the local area.

    Activities: Drive to Phonsavan, capital of Xieng Khuang - the gateway to the Plain of Jars.
  • DAY 4

    Phonsavan – Plain of Jars
    After breakfast, we will take a short trek to explore the mysterious Plain of Jars and the surrounding area. The jars are thought to be 2000 years old, although not many evidences to date them accurately. Archaeologist still struggle to confirm the specific purpose of the jars. Were they used for funeral urns or to store rice wine? It's still a mystery until now. Observe local village life; visit a small monastery in Ban Xiengdi and pass some battlefields during the American war.We carry on to Muang Khoun, where in the old provincial capital that was not been destroyed by American bombings.

  • DAY 5

    Phonsavan – Luang Prabang
    Following breakfast, drive to Luang Prabang (approx 6 or 7 hours) with a stopover for lunch at Sala Phoukhou. After lunch, we can continue on our way to Luang Prabang via Road 13 whilst enjoying the beautiful landscape.Overnight in Luang Prabang.

  • DAY 6

    Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves
    Today, you will first visit Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artifacts. We then embark on the Nava Mekong cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside, before reaching the sacred Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the local rice wine. The authentic Lao lunch will be served on the leisurely cruise back to Luang Prabang.
    On arrival back in the city, we will visit magnificent Wat Xieng Thong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. Afterwards, we will visit the Traditional Art and Ethnology Center to learn about Laos’ many ethnic cultures. From there, we will transfer to visit Wat Siphouthabaht to admire the sunset; this is the really peaceful place to catch the last beauty of the day. The tour ends after a visit to the famous Night Market, where you can find a lovely collection of handmade textiles made by local and hilltribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.

  • DAY 7

    Luang Prabang – Kuang Si Waterfalls
    An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession. From there, we will take a short visit to the morning local market near the Royal Palace. At the market, you can find anything from rice, to fresh vegetables, to steamed fish, frogs, and anything else that might be the day’s catch, just set up on the ground, this is what the locals do every day. This is really the chance for you to get a real flavor of the local culture.

    After breakfast at the hotel, we ascend the 329 steps to the top of Phousi Hill for a panoramic view of the city and the Mekong River. We then visit Wat Visoun, dating back to 1513 during the reign of King Wisunarat (Visoun), this is Luang Prabang’s oldest temple and was once home to the Prabang Buddha.

    We then transfer directly to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfalls where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest trails.

    Before returning to Luang Prabang, we stop to visit the Butterfly Park (closed on Tuesday), one of the must-visit spots, where you can have an optional 15 minute tour to learn about butterflies and local flora.

    Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, we will take a short visit to the Ock Pop Tock Living Craft Center, where you will have a short tour so you get information about Silk, about weaver, about the women that work in the centre.

    Luang Prabang – Pakse – Champasak – Don Khon
    After breakfast, we will take the van to the airport for your flight to Pakse and transfer to Champasak. On the way, pay a visit to Wat Phou, the most important Hindu sanctuary of the Khmer Empire then continue on to Nagasang, for a boat cruise to the calm and quiet island Don Khon where you can have a chance to see rare Irrawaddy dolphins.Overnight in Don Khon.

    Activities: Transfer to Champasak, pay a visit to Hindu sanctuary of Wat Phou. Enjoy slow life in Don Khon.
  • DAY 9

    Don Khon – Khone Phapheng Falls – Pakse
    In the morning, explore the local peaceful villages of Don Khon, where you will see an array of relics from the French colonial era and retrace the old colonial past, including old French colonial buildings and the remnants of the first Lao railway with its locomotive. We continue to discover the 4000 islands area by tuktuk and visit the marvelous Li Phi Falls, also called the "Corridor of the Devil" one of the most beautiful waterfalls marking Laos border with Cambodia. If we are lucky, we may even see the rare freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins at Ban Hang Khone. We return to the mainland at the fishing village of Ban Nakasang and drive further south to visit Khone Phapheng Falls - the largest waterfall by volume in South East Asia; this is a really impressive near the Laos-Cambodian border, set within an area which is teeming with wildlife, making this area one of the most breathtaking destinations in Laos. Afterwards we drive back to Pakse. Overnight in Pakse
